Everything you need to know about working with Summit Line — and a few things that set us apart.

Experience — and a mission built around your peace of mind. Summit Line was founded on years of performing at weddings across Minnesota, earning recognition that includes The Knot Best of Weddings and WeddingWire Couples' Choice honors. But beyond the awards, what truly sets us apart is our purpose: simplifying wedding planning. We handle the details, the timeline, and the music so you can be fully present on the most important day of your life. From your first consultation to the final song, you'll have one dedicated point of contact — and complete peace of mind.

Yes — and it's one of the most important things we do. A great MC sets the tone for the entire evening: welcoming your guests, delivering announcements with polish, and keeping your timeline flowing seamlessly from one moment to the next. It's a craft refined over hundreds of events, and it's where Summit Line truly separates itself from other vendors. Your guests will always know what's happening — and it will always feel effortless.

Absolutely. Your wedding's soundtrack is fully customizable. Some couples hand us a complete playlist, others give us full creative freedom, and most land somewhere in between. You can choose all of the music, none of it, or simply set the direction and let us take it from there. And your do-not-play list is honored without exception.

That's entirely your call. Some couples love an open floor for requests, others prefer the evening stays fully curated, and many leave it to the DJ's discretion to read the room. Whatever you decide, we'll honor it — your night, your rules.

Every package includes professional-grade sound equipment (including dance lights and a wireless microphone), complete setup and teardown, a detailed planning consultation, and access to our online planning portal. For a full breakdown of each tier, explore our packages.

Yes — we're proud to serve couples across Minnesota and beyond. For events more than 40 miles outside the Twin Cities, a modest travel fee applies, and it will always be outlined clearly in your quote. No surprises, ever.

Your day is protected. Summit Line maintains a trusted network of professional DJs who can step in seamlessly in the rare event of an emergency. Between backup equipment and backup talent, the music never stops — and you'll never have to give it a second thought.

In the vast majority of cases — Mike. When you book Summit Line, you're booking Mike Hongslo as your point of contact and your DJ. He personally handles the grand majority of events on our calendar. When you reach out for a personalized quote, you'll know right away whether Mike is available for your date. On the rare occasion he's unavailable, you'll be matched with another experienced Summit Line DJ held to the same standard — and you'll always know who's coming well in advance.

Wedding DJ pricing in Minnesota typically ranges from $1,000 to $3,500 or more depending on experience, hours of coverage, and what's included. At Summit Line, packages start at $2,095 for DJ + live music coverage, and include professional sound equipment, MC services, timeline coordination, and a planning consultation — not just someone showing up with a laptop. When comparing vendors, look carefully at what's actually included. A lower quote that doesn't cover ceremony sound, MC services, or planning support often ends up costing more in stress than it saves in dollars. See our full pricing and packages.

As early as possible — ideally 12 to 18 months out. Peak wedding season in Minnesota runs May through October, and the best vendors fill up fast. Summit Line is currently booking into 2027 and beyond. If you have a date in mind, the sooner you reach out, the better your options. A quick conversation now can save a lot of scrambling later.

Experience is the first thing — and not just years in business, but specifically weddings. Reading a dance floor, managing a timeline, and MCing a room full of people who've never met are skills that take hundreds of events to develop. Beyond experience, look for clear communication, a transparent contract, and real reviews from real couples. Ask whether they carry backup equipment, whether they'll be the one actually there on your day, and whether they've performed at your venue before. At Summit Line, every DJ on our roster has over a decade of experience and hundreds of events behind them — because your wedding day is not the place to learn on the job.

Yes — and it's one of our most popular combinations. Summit Line offers live acoustic guitar and vocals for your ceremony or cocktail hour, seamlessly transitioning into a full DJ setup for the reception. It gives your day a layered, personal feel that DJ-only or band-only setups can't quite match. Our Select and Premier packages include live music as part of the experience. Absolutely — and we love it when there's a great coordinator in the room. We're used to collaborating with planners, venue coordinators, and other vendors to make sure every moment lands exactly as intended. If you don't have a coordinator, don't worry — timeline management is built into every Summit Line package. We'll keep the evening on track so you don't have to.
